DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee performance of shift supervisors.
Communicate company standards to staff.
Establish high morale throughout your staff by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems.
Report to the Plant Manager any mechanical, scheduling, or personnel problems that may have significant effects on operations.
Oversee the proper training and manning of plant positions.
Oversee the inventory of parts, supplies, inventories of sheets, ink, and other converting supplies in order to ensure a continuous operation.
Responsible for the upkeep of machinery; coordinate maintenance work with a minimum of downtime.
Solve production problems that are not or cannot be resolved at the supervisory level.
Assist the Plant Scheduler to meet the customer's needs and keep cost at a minimal level.
Notify the Plant Scheduler of any needed changes to the production schedule.
Communicate with Accounting, Human Resources, and Purchasing the various needs of the Production Department as well as see those respective department needs are met by Production.
Work with Sales and Design on new styles or items for runability on existing equipment.
Work with Sales Service to determine proper instructions forwarded to production for producing items.
Provide input for annual budget and capital plan.
Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including union contract, safety program, and good housekeeping.
Additional duties may be assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages production supervisors who supervise employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED.
Two years prior supervisory experience.
Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
TECHNICAL SKILLS The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
This also supports the supervisor's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
Budget development, adherence and analysis.
Quality standards.
Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS The performance of the supervisor will be measured as follows:
Operating standards - the Plant Superintendent will need to see that all reporting staff meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity.
Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the supervisor.
Personal growth - while the company will provide the tools to assist the supervisor to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual.
Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the supervisor and his/her superior.
Employee relations - through observations the Plant Superintendent will be evaluated regarding his/her and his/her reporting staff's skills and advancements in the areas of motivational techniques and results, positive and corrective/constructive feedback, subordinate development and creating a positive work environment.
Creativity - this will be evaluated by how active the Plant Superintendent and his/her direct reports are in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.
