Summary:
The Receiving Associate is responsible for checking in all merchandise delivered from Vendor shipments and advising the driver and internal management of discrepancies including shortages and damages.
Position
Responsibilities:
Unload trailers and stage palletized merchandise using counter-based forklifts and powered pallet jacks. Manually unload trucks on to pallets and verifies accuracy of shipment.
Receive cartons through scanning UPC codes into Telxon (hand held
computer
) and/or manual processes.
May operate forklifts or powered pallet jacks to pick up merchandise and transport to storage locations.
Route paperwork to appropriate individuals/areas in the distribution centers to receive, process, and/or ship merchandise.
Advise
supervisor
of errors, discrepancies or damages.
Perform routine housekeeping by disposing of boxes, tape, etc. and returning unused pallets to designated storage locations.
Provide assistance to other Associates as needed to avoid injuries and ensure safe movement of merchandise.
Record working time into SAP and keys in changes to account for productive and nonproductive hours.
Quantitative Dimensions:
Typically, associates are required to unload 100-900 cases per hour which is based upon the shipment coming into the dock. This will vary based upon the size of the cases and packaging.
Position Requirements:
Typically requires a high school diploma or GED
Approved forklift licensing and training required (can obtain through Safety Department)
Ability to lift a minimum of 45 pounds
Ability to read receiving instructions and follow a paper trail

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
